Amazon Pick and Place

Updated: Jun 4, 2020

The Amazon Pick and Place was a team projected and challenge launched by Amazon where the goal was to build a robust and practical state-of-the-art solutions for robotic pick-and-place, a technology central to many applications: from picking and removing items in a logistics center bin and dropped it to another determined space using a budget of $500,00. The project was completed in three semesters.

First Semester

It was completed:

  • Linkage Design

  • Grabber Design

  • Selected components (servos, camera)

  • Feasibility Analysis (statics, dynamics and kinematics)

  • Workstation (design, materials, build)

Second Semester

It was completed:

  • Autonomous motion algorithms

  • Position control using inverse kinematics

  • Bar code detection

  • Computer-based user interface

  • Design Package of the whole arm

Third Semester

It was completed:

  • Redesign previous code and develop algorithm to sort objects in terms of their colors

  • Different color object detection

  • Sorting motion control

  • Autonomous sorting of three different objects with two different colors
